Salary Guide £60-£75k depending on experience
Who are you?
You will be an enthusiastic, self-starting individual who is happy to take responsibility for providing subcontract management support across a range of projects and services, interfacing with clients, suppliers and the technical team members.
You will enjoy working as part of a team, willing to flex priorities to support others where necessary and are comfortable with a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment.
You will have experience in creating, editing and negotiating commercial terms for a variety of supplier types for the provision of and procurement of technically specialist equipment and services. It will require leading the procurement of many complex spacecraft subsystem elements at varying levels of maturity and so an understanding of engineering development with respect to space programmes would be beneficial but not essential. You will be the main point of contact between suppliers and the project team so good communication and project management skills are also required. A pragmatic risk-based and resolution focused approach is essential. The right attitude is equally as important as background and experience.
Education and or Experience
- Educated preferably to degree -level or equivalent in an appropriate discipline (engineering or business management);
- Formal Procurement/analogous qualifications and/or memberships such as MCIPS (can be superseded by experience)
- Proven ability to pick up me of the following areas is required:
- Experience in leading commercial negotiations with suppliers of highly complex technical equipment into either a space or aerospace environment;
- Experience in developing and reviewing new commercial terms in an engineering environment;
- Experience in understanding when to employ different commercial approaches. Ranging from simple standard terms to support POs to framework agreements for key suppliers;
- Experience in supporting project teams in interpreting commercial terms;
- Experience in supporting bid teams in appropriately responding to client commercial terms;
- Experience in driving supply delivery in two or more of the following: commercial environment; defence environment; institutional (i.e. ESA or UK government) environment.
- Management of a diverse supplier base to monitor for appropriate quality and delivery performance.
- Experience and/or knowledge of the following is desirable:
- Delivery of space technology and/or space mission studies;
- Knowledge of Space Standards (i.e. ECSS);
- Knowledge of UK Space Industry.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project);
What will you be doing here?
- Reporting into the Supply Chain Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing, negotiating and editing commercial terms for the procurement of equipment and services supplied by In-Space Missions Ltd’s suppliers and partners. This may include everything from small consultancy engagements and service provision through to large, complex technical procurements (supported by the appropriate technical specialist(s)).
- Supplier and sub-contractor management through the life of a space programme. Including managing the performance of suppliers to meet challenging schedules and building strong relationships with both external and internal stakeholders.
- Travel may be required both within UK and abroad to ensure successful delivery of subcontracts.
- Supporting projects in engaging suppliers in appropriate commercial arrangements, schedule and technical management in order to facilitate smooth delivery of each subcontract.
- Regular reporting into the management team around supplier risks held within the business and mitigation approaches.
- Regular financial reporting of expected supplier invoice/payment dates to feed into cashflow forecasting and currency hedge planning.
- Supporting bid activity in supplier engagement activities.
- Co-ordination of appropriate commercial oversight with the Financial and Delivery Directors.
- Resolution of commercial issues with appropriate communication and buy-in from relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaboration with supply chain manager quality manager to ensure supplier base is appropriately controlled and monitored for quality and delivery performance.
