This is a permanent role but is being advertised as an apprenticeship as the successful candidate will be able to study for their CIPD qualification alongside the role.

As a Capability Manager, you will play a key role in a small, friendly team, working to manage capability in DBT’s Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) function. You will be coordinating framework assessments, communicating updates to the business area, and acting as a link between our specialised capability, workforce planning and recruitment teams to ensure a cohesive approach to best support DDaT. Please note, no direct experience of working with Government Digital and Data skills and Pay framework is needed as you can learn this as part of the role.

This role is available in seven UK locations and can only be worked from within the UK, not overseas. If your office location is London, you will be eligible to receive London weighting. DBT employees work in a hybrid pattern, spending 2-3 days a week (pro rata) in the office on average. Changes to these working arrangements are available in certain circumstances but must be agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role and can only be discussed with successful candidates. Travel to your primary office location will not be paid for by DBT, but costs for travel to an office which is not your main location will be covered.

Responsibilities

In this role you will:

• Coordinate the DDaT Skills and Pay frameworks activities including managing self-assessment deadlines, line manager reviews and moderations, and ensuring alignment with wider business deadlines.
• Coordinate and communicate about capability assessments; being first point of contact for questions relating to frameworks and advising DDaT staff and DDaT SMT on best practice
• Be the point of contact for capability and pay framework related activities e.g. providing tailored advice to Head of Professions and managers on the mapping of roles and application of the frameworks for new starters
• Ensure a joined-up approach across capability, workforce planning and recruitment, and that data insights are being used intelligently to inform planning
• Manage the administration of our digital capability tool (including necessary configuration)
• Help with administration and innovation for apprenticeships and Fast Stream and other staff development programmes
