Job description
What you will do in your working day
- • Reporting to the Workshop Manager, and working alongside the team of experienced and highly skilled Furniture Makers, and wider team such as Designers and Technical Draughts people.
• Learn the techniques and methods of making components and how to assemble furniture. Learning jointing methods, gluing-up, lamination, veneer and wood selection, material selection.
• Learn about prototyping, jigs and templates, incorporating work by others such as glass, metal, stone.
• Learn to read and interpret technical drawings to make furniture: tables, chairs, cabinets, for homes and Superyachts.
• Learning to work with accuracy and precision, whilst understanding high quality expectations need to be met.
• Will be taught how to use a variety of hand and power tools, as well as larger woodworking machines.
• Admin duties like ordering materials, glues, screws for the workshop. Stock keeping of materials used.
The training you will be getting
- Intermediate Level 2 Apprenticeship in Furniture Manufacturing, including NVQ and functional skills maths and English. Work based learning.
- Training location to be confirmed
