This role is based out of our Eurocentral Office with hybrid working available - travel will be required across Scotland.

What you'll be doing

As a Skills & Employment Manager, you will have the following accountabilities:

Resourcing Agency

• Work collaboratively with SSEN, Local FE&HE & Skills Development providers
  to identify Jobs which will be created through project delivery and promote and
  recruit roles within green skills sector.
• Work with Balfour Beatty project teams to identify skills gaps and requirements
  to establish local construction skills academies which address project
  recruitment needs.
• Work in partnership with contracted labour agencies to fulfil labour requirements by developing strategic skills academies and local recruitment hub model which will promote pathways into green careers, civil engineering, construction & Power T&D disciplines.

Working with Supply chain

• Engage with key subcontractors within our Supply Chain to understand labour
  requirements and to develop and support programmes which addresses skills
  gaps.
• Understand training requirements within our supply chain and identify
  opportunities to develop new local training approaches with regional colleges
  and Universities.

Training

• Work in partnership with Public and Third Sector organisations to create
  construction pathways for priority groups including: People Transitioning from
  other sectors eg Oil & Gas, School Leavers, Under employed graduates, Under
  represented groups including Women, LGBTQ and Minority Ethnic, Care
  experienced young people, Long term unemployed, People with convictions
  Embrace and promote principles of 5% club, supporting Industrial Cadets
  programmes.
• Create and manage schools work experience outreach programmes as feeder
  for early careers recruitment.
• Grow regional employability and education partnerships as required within key
  geographies including Highlands and Islands, Western Isles, Argyll and Bute,
  North East Scotland, Tayside

Measuring Social Impact

• Measure and evaluate the economic impact of employability and training programmes that are delivered on SSEN contracts.

Working collaboratively across business units

• Manage key relationships with Balfour Beatty Power T&D and Regional Scotland civils businesses to deliver joined up approach across all SSEN contracts.

Creating social mobility in the communities in which we operate

• Ensure our employability approaches has focus on upskilling people that are
  from disadvantaged backgrounds and provide opportunities for recruited staff to learn, grow and develop. Ensure alignment of our approaches with the Scottish Government No One Left Behind strategy to help people into fair and
  sustainable jobs.

Who we're looking for

You will have the following:

• Experience within Education & Training sector
• Understanding of careers related to civil engineering and renewable energy.
• Knowledge of engaging communities in rural locations and barriers of recruitment in these regions.
• Experience of managing employment and skills partnership and the Scottish skills landscape.
• Experience of working across Scottish local authorities
• Knowledge and understanding of Scottish Qualifications and knowledge of Scottish construction sector.
• Clean UK Drivers License.
