Role Summary: As a Junior Designer you will supporting the main category designer and be responsible for key products within a range. Working in conjunction with other category designers and buyers to create a collection for the department, help shape range direction and focal points as appropriate. Creating commercial yet innovative & unique ranges that deliver the FatFace style, attention to detail and product that is built to last. Role Responsibilities: To design and develop FatFace products appropriate to the trends and produce design briefs/packs for the direct supply base and to achieve high quality first samples within the critical path timing To develop garments for own category and department design team where needed Conduct market research to identify what the latest trends are and competitors ranges Providing advice on initial samples, ensuring manufactured garments match initial design specifications Liaise with Buyers on costs/margins to ensure that the range can realistically be bought within given budgets Design ranges with the Buyer based on sales and trend information. CAD work including producing design packs, manipulating artworks, graphics and prints CAD range plans to ensure choice, newness and a balanced range offered to customers Liaising with suppliers on product and design detail. Present ranges to team and directors for sign off and adjustments Support senior designer in research themes and directions for design presentation Create and present trend packs, mood boards and forecasts to include key items for following seasons in preparation for department strategy & sign off Skills and Experience: Degree or equivalent in Fashion based subject Experience at Assistant/junior Designer level Experience working for authentic casual or outdoors brands Presentation Skills: Ability to communicate with externals and Senior Management Good research skills: Ability to organise and prioritise workload Role Competencies: Strong eye for trends and understanding of the FatFace brand Knowledge of garment construction, treatments, fabrics and sustainable choices Good knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop. Indesign and Illustrator) Understanding of colour stories and levels Ability to convey designs from paper to 3D design Good Knowledge of Factory processes Creative and able to convey vision of Fat Face Brand Comprehensive understanding of customer profile, product range & competitors Demonstrate knowledge of trend within the marketplace Accountable for Resources: Represents the brand image and handwriting ¿ impacting on a wide area of customer facing brand collateral and seasonal communications.
