Job Overview:
We are currently seeking empathetic and dedicated Young Person Support Workers to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with young residents in our supported accommodation, providing them with the necessary guidance, support, and encouragement to help them overcome challenges and achieve their goals. As a Young Person Support Worker, you will play a vital role in creating a positive and empowering atmosphere for our residents.
Key Responsibilities:
• Direct Support: Provide one-on-one support to young residents, assisting them with daily activities, emotional support, and life skills development.
• Individualised Care: Develop and implement individual support plans tailored to the unique needs and aspirations of each resident.
• Advocacy: Act as an advocate for residents, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are respected.
• Safety and Well-being: Maintain a safe living environment, addressing any safety concerns promptly and effectively.
• Crisis Intervention: Respond to crises and emergencies, providing immediate support and following established protocols.
• Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, external agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive care and support for residents.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including progress notes, incident reports, and support plans.
• Empowerment: Encourage and empower residents to participate in activities, education, and employment opportunities, promoting their independence and self-confidence.
• Training and Development: Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge in supporting young people.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Previous experience in a similar support worker role, preferably in a supported accommodation setting.
• Compassion, patience, and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with young people and provide non-judgmental support.
• Understanding of the challenges faced by young individuals and a commitment to making a positive impact in their lives.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Relevant qualifications in social work, youth work, psychology, or a related field are desirable but not mandatory.
