Job description
Working as part of a small but experienced team, the primary purpose of the role is to provide a high quality end-to-end administration service to members of both the DB and DC schemes, the company and Trustees.
Working with the Pensions Manager, you will assist when necessary in supporting the Trustee Board e.g. on specific projects. preparation of the Scheme financial statements, submission of the Scheme Return and in the Pensions Dashboard Project.
Work on a hybrid basis, 2 days in the office, 3 days at home
About the role
- Provide a complete administration service including all regular aspects of pensions administrative work
- Respond to pension enquiries such as processing retirements, transfers out and time critical events such as responding to the death of a member
- Answer complex member and third party queries, providing full and accurate responses to questions which require in depth pension knowledge
- Diligence in controlling and monitoring pension cases and workflows, ensuring all activities are completed in line with legislation, service level agreements and the expectation of members, the Trustee and the Company
- Deal with complaints in accordance with the IDRP and to deal with such cases with empathy and the utmost professionalism
- Maintain an excellent working knowledge of the pension scheme Rules, including various legacy arrangements
- Quickly escalate to the Pensions Manager any significant problems or concerns, particularly those that have a financial implication
- Assist the Pensions Manager, when necessary, in providing support to the Trustee Board
About you
- Considerable experience in a pensions administration role
- Excellent technical and operational knowledge of UK contracted-out defined benefit pension schemes, also experience in defined contribution schemes is desirable
- Good knowledge of UK pension legislation
- Experience of working with pension administration systems (Profund being an advantage)
- Track record of performing and checking member benefit calculations including ability to apply complex history of legacy arrangements
Skills and Abilities
- Technically proficient in operational pensions administration
- Strong eye for detail, accuracy and good grammatical skills
- Used to meeting deadlines in a busy working environment
- Self-starter but an effective collegiate team member
