Job Description:

As an Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO), you will play a crucial role in ensuring the welfare and well-being of children under the care of the local authority. Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting statutory reviews of children in care cases, fostering and adoption, and child protection plans.
• Providing independent oversight and challenge to the decision-making process within the local authority.
• Ensuring that the plans and services for children are in their best interests, taking into account their wishes and feelings.
• Collaborating with other professionals, social workers, and agencies to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.

Key Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

• A recognised Social Work qualification (e.g., BA in Social Work, MA in Social Work).
• Registration with Social Work England.
• Significant experience in children and families social work, including experience in reviewing cases.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to child protection and looked-after children.
• Strong communication and analyticl skills.
