JOB TITLE: Java Engineer
SALARY: £68,202 to £75,780
LOCATION: Edinburgh
HOURS: Full-time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll play a key leadership role in our continued transformation journey by:
Defining, communicating and being responsible for our software engineering strategy, methods, and approaches; working with others to implement and embed within our end-to-end engineering activity
Working with teams and partners to define, agree and implement optimal software engineering approaches; utilising the right tools and techniques to achieve the best possible outcomes for the business
Leading, inspiring, and managing individuals to continually improve and develop their software engineering knowledge and capabilities; working in collaboration with other leaders to maximise the benefit of this capability within our teams

What you'll need
The knowledge and ability to apply and lead software engineering initiatives within a Lab, including technical deliveries and engineering improvements, utilising efficient agile methodologies such as Kanban/Scrum
A strong software engineering background with expertise in Java, Javascript / Springboot, NodeJS, React, Microservices, CI/CD, Shell or Python scripting development, testing and test automation
A good working knowledge of Identity & Access Management concepts, standard's and tools (such as Forgerock AM and DS)
A good understand of Cloud
Experience working with a broad set of GCP products (or extensive experience with another Cloud platforms such as OCP) for example.
Familiarisation with Linux/UNIX system administration including Git and Kubernetes
An understanding of how Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment operates and can be applied in a modern engineering environment
