Job description

We are looking for an experienced animal technician to join our friendly, hardworking team actively involved in the daily care and maintenance of animals, as well as supporting the provision of specialised surgical services within our biofacility situated in South Cambridge.

The role holder will provide daily hands on animal care including daily observations and husbandry, liaison with researchers and providing technical assistance with both regulated and non-regulated experimental protocols.

The role holder will also support the Surgery Technician to provide surgical assistance; coordination of surgical suites within the facility, provision of advice on best practice and asepsis, as well as conducting surgical protocols and non-sterile assistance during surgery.

Ideally you will hold an Institute of Animal Technology Level 2 or equivalent qualification, or at least GCSE (A-C) in English, Maths and a Science subject (ideally Biology), or equivalent. The successful candidate will be expected to hold, or be ready to apply for a Home Office personal license with Home Office modules A - C.

You will have previous experience working in a laboratory setting with animals, additional experience conducting regulated and non-regulated procedures, and surgery will also be an advantage. You should be positive, reliable, flexible and able to communicate effectively with team colleagues and research staff.
