Job description
The core component of this post is to provide anaesthetic cover for a variety of surgical services, if a consultant has a special interest is in Pain medicine, then they will have a split job plan between Pain and Anaesthetics. The post holder must understand the significant ongoing changes in the Trust's services and be prepared to take an active part in the change program. A standard full time job plan will contain 10 programmed activities which could be filled by a variety of options from currently uncovered lists and flexible cover for consultant leave. A programmed activity will normally have a timetable value of 4 hours and a full-time consultant will normally devote 8 programmed activities to direct clinical care. The remaining programmed activities will be devoted to supporting professional activities. An example 10 PA job plan is indicated in Appendix 1, but the successful candidate will be invited to discuss these options with the Clinical Service Lead on appointment.
