Judge & Priestley are now recruiting for a Commercial Litigation Solicitor.

We are looking for a robust solicitor to join our commercial litigation team. The team acts for a number of major utility suppliers, government bodies, financial and commercial businesses and insolvency practitioners. This role will include providing a broad range of services from advising on the merits of litigation at early stages to acting for the clients in Part 7 and Part 8 proceedings and Insolvency actions.

The role is suitable for a solicitor with a strong and broad-spectrum commercial litigation background who has a willingness to get stuck into learning niche areas and nuances of the specific industries and environments that our clients work within. The role is also well suited for someone ambitious who is looking to develop their reputation and career working within a fast paced environment and a team growing in size and stature.

About the role:

• Provide clients with accurate, appropriate and up-to-date legal advice throughout all stages of legal proceedings. Especially focusing on providing advice that delivers commercial results to meet our clients’ business needs.
• Provide clients with robust, commercially-minded and astute representation in all legal proceedings;
• Establish and maintain excellent relationships with clients.
• Develop an understanding of, and keep updated on, our clients’ working practices and any regulatory or other changes impacting them or their industries.
• Develop a fundamental working knowledge of clients’ organisations in order to be able to effectively meet their unique needs.
• Assist the Head of the Department in developing new work streams and expanding those work streams that already exist through participation in marketing and networking activities whether on a firm-wide, departmental or office basis.

Your experience should include:

• Evidence of a business minded approach to litigation.
• Dealing with and directly managing an active and varied caseload of matters at all different stages of the litigation process.
• Dealing with varying commercial clients and meeting demands.
• A desire to get involved with all manner of contentious and sometimes non-contentious work including (1) general commercial contract disputes, (2) complex utility supply disputes (3) adult social care disputes and (4) other tax recoveries.
• Delivering excellent customer care in a legal environment.

Qualifications

• To be qualified and eligible to practice as a Solicitor or Legal Executive in England and Wales, or alternatively
• To hold equivalent or similar foreign qualification together with current and relevant experience working with the English legal systems
