Job description


An exciting opportunity has arisen in the GI & Lymphoma Unit at the Royal Marsden Hospital for a Senior Clinical Trial Coordinator to support large portfolio of clinical trials both commercial and non-commercial. You will need to be experienced and confident with the regulatory submission and approval processes, clinical trial costing being self- motivated, pro-active and well organised to work within this friendly team in a highly pressurised environment at the forefront of research into Gastro-intestinal cancer and Lymphoma.

Experience is essential to enable you to take a key role in setting up and day to day coordination of clinical trials. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to all aspects of clinical trials administration across our hosted portfolio, supporting new members of the team to ensure the continued smooth and efficient delivery of research protocols through set-up, day to day management, close out and archiving.

Applicants should hold a first degree in a life science or health related subject and have an in depth understanding and demonstrable working experience of Good Clinical Practice, Data Protection and Research Governance. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential to work to the high standards required by the Regulatory Authorities and Sponsors across a variety of tasks with constant regard to all regulatory requirements and Trust Standard Operating Procedures.
• To take responsibility for ensuring assigned portfolio of clinical trials within the Unit are conducted and managed in accordance with Good Clinical Practice and Trust SOPs and trial protocols.
• To be responsible for managing Hosted studies within the Unit.
• To be responsible for conveying the requirements of the Clinical R&D Office to clinical staff within their allocated Clinical Unit.
• To provide an efficient clinical trial coordination service to the Unit Head, ensuring trials fulfil all statutory requirements.
• To oversee the conduct of assigned portfolio of trials within the Unit and maintain day to day responsibility for specific trials within the Unit.
• To represent the Unit at key meetings and deputise for the Project Manager as required.

Service Delivery
• Contribute to the Unit development and strategy.
• Under the direction of the Project Manager to lead implementation of systems within the Unit to ensure all Clinical Trials are conducted in accordance with all regulatory internal requirements including:
1. Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) Regulations
2. Research Governance Framework for Health and Social Care
3. Human Tissue Act
4. Research and Development Policies and SOPs

To be the main point of contact for the clinical R&D Office for set up and management of an assigned portfolio of clinical trials. To coordinate the Unit’s portfolio meeting as appropriate, ensuring documented monitoring of the clinical trial portfolio. To be a member of Trust Forums as appropriate.
