Job description
What you will do in your working day
- Will complete an induction of processes and procedures at Broadway Engineering
- Will undertake training and course work both written and practical in the workplace and at HWGTA
- Will undertake relevant college courses and further education
- Will present a professional image and conduct at all times whether onsite or offsite
- Will inform Team Leader/Training instructors when maintenance or repair is noticed and required
- Will work closely with existing employees to train and learn good practices
- Will be expected to keep work areas tidy and organised and assist with 5S activities as required
- Assisting the maintenance team as necessary
- The role will include some lifting and carrying and you may be required to undertake other duties as required
- Expected to Work safely and wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times and within the prevailing company Health and Safety procedures
- You may be required to work alternative shifts/hours
- You may be required to perform any other reasonable duties/specific projects from time to time and as directed by management
The training you will be getting
Formal training is delivered at HWGTA, located in Worcester (WR4 9GN):
- Duration approximately 40-45 months
- Year 1 includes 26-42 weeks off the job training to cover practical and theory aspects
- Year 2 would include 1 day per week to complete EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering - Development Knowledge
- Years 2,3&4 will be based in company developing skills in preparation for the end point assessment to gain your Machining Technician Level 3 qualification
- You will receive monthly visits from your assigned Learning and Development Specialist, who will set you work, monitor your development and wellbeing, and discuss training sessions. They will also prepare you for your End Point Assessment
- Additional training for functional skills in English and maths will be undertaken if needed
- There is also a five-day teambuilding residential trip that is held in the spring of each year offered to all apprentices on programme
