Head of IT / IT Manager

East Grinsted On-site x5 days a week

My client is a pioneer within the space of e-learning education and development who are looking to recruit a Head of IT / IT Manager who will be responsible for a team of x5 direct reports and will be responsible for IT Operations, Project Management and support, based in East Grinstead.

My client offers both online education and classroom education which are backed up by a customised student website. Online courses are delivered primarily on Moodle LMS and a custom staff/student website using Vimeo to provide the video content delivery and managed with a backend database made with FileMaker.

As Head of It / IT Manager you will ensure a smooth Windows environment, with the use of Office 365 a newly upgraded telephony internet system and FileMaker; an internal database system for keeping records.

As Head of IT / IT Manager you will be responsible for managing content on the Student Website, providing technical support to staff and students, managing day to day operations, and assisting with the ongoing development of websites and systems.

As Head of IT / IT Manager you will have a compact team that will report directly to you. You will manage their workload and priorities. You will liaise, work closely with Directors and report to board level and collaborate in identifying solutions and recommendations for the business' IT needs.

The infrastructure of both student sites, custom and Moodle reside within AWS on dedicated Linux servers. Plesk is used for the management of a variety of WordPress sites.

Head of IT / IT Manager Responsibilities:

• Support to students and staff, providing technical support via phone, email, and dedicated support system. Working within SLAs, prioritisation of tasks.
• Website Administration, managing WordPress sites, Plesk, and AWS.
• Database administration, MySQL, FileMaker.
• Project Management
• 3rd party supplier management
• Identifying places for improvement of the online platforms.
• Assist with testing and developing new online systems and academic software to improve and streamline daily operations.

Head of IT / IT Manager Skills required:

• Good understanding of IT systems and services. Including IT infrastructure management for internal and hosted systems. AWS experience would be beneficial.
• Project management with a good understanding of agile methodologies. Scoping to delivery.
• Excellent communication skills when working with a variety of clients and stakeholders.
• Good understanding of CRM, workflow and business process software - ERP like - systems.
• Knowledge of Learning Management Systems, ideally Moodle or a similar platform.
• Good understanding of Office 365, Teams, SharePoint and Power Automate
• Have a technical understanding of Content Management Systems.
• Good understanding of customer databases and software systems.
• Good understanding of HTML, SQL, PHP or similar web languages
• Good organisational skills and an enthusiasm to keep learning and developing new
