Job description

The Assistant Psychologist will contribute to the work of the multidisciplinary team. The post holder will be a creative individual with skills in youth work, mentoring, key working and who is interested in working with CYP/young adults in care presenting with a range of complex mental health needs and who are struggling to engage with services. They will contribute to clinically-informed assessments of families needs, and be able to work with families in their homes, as well as other community settings. In addition to providing routine assessment and direct therapeutic interventions, post holders will offer consultation and work alongside social work colleagues, schools and professional networks. The role will be line managed within the Systemic Wellbeing Service and the post-holder will receive practice supervision from a Senior Therapist. The post-holder will work alongside Early Help team managers, Family Hubs, Educational Psychologists, Educational Welfare Officers and Social Workers,mental health practitioners , school /college staff and community services. The will also work with colleagues to provide training, education and support for school staff, parents/carers and other relevant agencies, through formal teaching, consultation and be involved in active case work. They will also provide consultation and advice to school staff in partnership with the project educational psychologist with respect to appropriate signposting and work preventatively to build resilience, functional and coping skills.
