The role
As an Automotive Training Instructor, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. This is no ordinary instructor role. You'll be a Subject Matter Expert (SME), sharing your knowledge with vehicle mechanics and ensuring they keep our a wide range of Military Land Equipment in top shape. No two days are the same, as you provide a vital service as part of a wider DSG Training and Competence team impacting sites across the UK.

Day to day, you'll leverage your expertise to design and deliver training programs for maintenance of Military Land Equipment, ensuring all training adheres to the principles of MOD training delivery to maintain the highest standards.

Key to the role will be to deliver targeted training interventions focused on building technical skills, competency, knowledge currency, and career development paths, to ensure staff are suitably qualified and experienced personnel (SQEP).

• Facilitate technical training courses beyond your personal area of expertise by leveraging resources from the wider DSG Technical training organisation.
• Oversee the management of accreditation paperwork, assessment forms, and certificates for all courses delivered to DSG staff.
• Record and maintain appropriate records of course results.
• Conduct audits, assurance, and validation checks of internal recording systems and training records.
• Work as part of a team to manage the automotive training program and contribute to the creation of new automotive course programs.

The role is adaptable and can be based at any main DSG site including Ashchurch, Bovington, Catterick, Colchester, Donnington and Warminster with hybrid working from home arrangements. However, there may be some weeks you will be expected to be on site 5 days per week.

Essential experience of the Automotive Training Instructor:

• Competent PC user with proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, and SharePoint.
• Ability to follow up on unresolved issues or escalations and take responsibility for finding solutions.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to develop effective relationships with colleagues at various levels within the organisation.
• Ability to work independently to support the training team's objectives and targets while adhering to internal policies and processes.

Qualifications for the Automotive Training Instructor:

• Minimum education level of Level 3 in a relevant Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF) or National Vocational Qualification (NVQ), such as an Advanced Apprenticeship or Level 3 VRQ/NVQ.
• Hold a recognised Instructional Qualification (e.g., Level 3 Teaching/Instructional Qualification) with experience in a similar role. If not currently held, the ability to complete the qualification within the first 12 months of employment is a requirement.
• Full UK Driving Licence

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
