Job description

We are seeking a hardworking Sawmill Operative on behalf of our successful, rural west Herefordshire based client on a permanent, full-time basis. You will be responsible for operating the log sawing and resawing equipment, and positively contribute to the effective operations of the mill.

The successful candidate will be experienced in working with saw machinery, and have a proactive attitude, and the ability to work within a busy, industrial environment are required.

Our client is continuing to invest and take big steps to facilitate ongoing and rapid growth through equipment investment.

What the successful candidate can expect:

• Salary: £26,000 - £33,000 per annum, depending on experience
• Working hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm with an hour for lunch
• 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays
• Discretionary performance related annual bonus

What you will be doing:

• Operating the log sawing and resawing equipment, specifically Mebor saw line & Forrestor horizontal saw
• Guiding log selection
• Quality checking of products
• Maintenance of the saws
• Full awareness and adherence of health & safety within the saw area and more widely, the yard, workshop, and stores
• Stock control of materials
• Awareness of priority and deadlines within the production process

What we are looking for:

• Saw machinery experience
• An eye for accuracy and quality
• A “can do” attitude
• Additional training can be given for the suitable applicant e.g., chainsaw operation, forklift and loaders operation, and H&S, etc.
