UK date and time: 05-March-2024 11:46 Applicant Options New Search Login Job Details Help Terms of Use & Privacy Policy Job Details Postdoctoral Research Associate Department of Biology, 11a Mansfield Road, Oxford OX1 3SZ We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on the tempo and mode of genome evolution in wild communities. The successful applicant will analyse genomic and metagenomic time-series data to answer questions such as: How quickly do species evolve in complex communities? Can we detect adaptation to their biotic and/or abiotic environment? How important is dispersal for adaptation and functioning of communities in changing conditions? You will conduct bioinformatic and evolutionary analyses of existing unpublished and published data, especially from evolution experiments on whole bacterial communities in the wild and laboratory, but also from historical genomics of insect and fungal assemblages sampled over periods of decades. Strong interests in evolutionary biology, skills working with genomic or metagenomic pipelines, and a PhD/DPhil (or be close to completion) in a relevant area are essential. This position offers opportunities to develop your own research interests. The post holder would guide less experienced members of the research group, including PhD and project students. The post is full time (applications for 50% part-time also welcome) and available immediately.
