LocuOverall Purpose of Job
KNOWLEDGE:
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of the factors that lead to improvement in achievement levels for children and young people particularly with SEND; of best practice in educational psychology; and of how psychology supports learning and well-being
• A thorough up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory guidance and Local Authority SEND procedures.
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
• Degree in Psychology
• Educational Psychology Professional Qualification at Master or Doctorate level
• Professional Post-graduate qualification in Educational Psychology
• Eligibility for Chartered Status as an EP and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Able to demonstrate strategic thinking at Corporate, directorate and service level
• The ability to champion and facilitate new initiatives in support of strategic goals, support, manage and implement change successfully and to lead action involving different service areas and clear deadlines
• To support strategic development with advice and perspective drawn from an understanding of psychological and child development considerations which may impact plans and outcomes
• Provides staff and service users with a clear sense of vision and direction, generating a commitment to securing change through the appropriate involvement of Educational
• Psychologists and others, including service users
• A commitment to building a high performing service across the continuum of local provision
• Ability and experience in budget management to ensure value for money, delivery of outcomes and development of traded models of service delivery
• Able to provide reflective supervision, professional guidance and performance appraisal for senior staff
• Able to facilitate improved outcomes for children and young people based on evidence based practice
• Seeks regular feedback within a co-productive framework from stakeholders about services provided and uses this to undertake/recommend continuous improvements to services.
