Job description

Veterinary Surgeon Worcestershire

An opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon to join the long-standing team at a small animal practice in Worcestershire. If surgery is your bag, they can offer one full day of surgeries per week and the freedom to fully work up your cases. If you prefer consults, they can offer a consult-only role. Professional and personal development is at the centre of the practice, which is why they offer you the support you need to succeed. They share knowledge, build your confidence and encourage clinical freedom there are no career boundaries.

They know that work-life balance is vital in supporting their people to be their best selves. Whether you need reduced working days/hours for hobbies, need to do the school drop off/pick up or would simply like a more flexible rota pattern, they can fix or flex our patterns to suit you. Typically, full time hours will consist of working 4 days a week between 8:30am and 6:30pm. The phones are switched over to their OOHs provider, so remote phone cover is required by the duty vet for just 1 hour with a Registered Veterinary Nurse on-site until 7pm. Weekends are 1 in 4 Saturdays, carrying out consults between 9am 1pm.

The highly dedicated team consists of 9 experienced Veterinary Surgeons and a 2nd year graduate who are supported by an excellent team of Registered Veterinary Nurses, Trainee Nurses, and the fantastic Support team. Their talented Vet team includes an RCVS recognised Advanced Practitioner in general small animal surgery, certificate holders in small animal medicine and endoscopy, a Vet who practices acupuncture and has a keen interest in animal behaviour and a Vet with a PHD in nematodes. In addition, one of their Vets is currently doing a certificate in diagnostic imaging. The Head Nurse has a CertVN ECC, alongside certificates in analgesia and anaesthesia. Regardless of where you are in your career, this dedicated and resourceful team will provide all the support and development you need and want.

As a Tier 2 RCVS-accredited surgery they have a variety of advanced diagnostic facilities including digital radiography, ultrasonography and endoscopy. They offer a range of clinical services from preventative healthcare through to complex medical, surgical, and orthopaedic procedures. The on-site laboratory means most blood samples can be analysed the same day.

The practice is located in Pershore on the edge of the Cotswolds. Excellent transport links mean they are only 40 minutes away from both Bristol and Birmingham and an hour and a half away from London. They are ideally situated for those who prefer to spend time in the great outdoors and those who prefer the occasional hustle and bustle of the big cities.
