Job description
Emmaus Coventry and Warwickshire are seeking an experienced Charity Retail Manager to join our team. Our charity shop raises vital funds to support our charity. The unique Emmaus Model provides meaningful work opportunities for people who have faced homelessness (Known as companions), and so our staff work together with companions and volunteers to run the shop.
The Charity Retail Manager will support the Head of Operations, to manage the social enterprise business activities and help to support companions as key members of the team. The post holder will also have the chance to help generate more funds, supporting commercial development by securing new opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Manage our charity store, staff, companions and volunteers
- Oversee the use of our electronic systems (Micromarket), and our online platforms
- Ensure high levels of customer service
- Increase company’s growth and revenue through maximising sales.
- Manage Health and Safety in the retail operation.
- Recommend and display items that match customer needs
- Optimising sales and working with our partners and stakeholders
- Understand Emmaus values, and follow companies policies and procedures
- Overseeing gift aid sales and the active involvement in the receiving of new donations
- Provide reports on the progress, growth and finances of retail operation

Requirements and skills:
- Experience of working within the charity or voluntary sector is (Desirable)
- An effective team player with the ability to lead and empower others
- Experience of recruiting and working alongside volunteers (Desirable)
- Driving license essential
- Engaging, helpful personality with a ‘can do’ attitude
- Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices
- Competent in English and Math
- Maintain accurate records
- Good communication and basic administration skills
