Package : £42,520 - £55,200 (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

As a Senior Measurement Scientist this role will give you the opportunity to act as a technical lead to provide radiological metrology services using the Radiological Instrumentation and Calibration facilities.
As part of the role, it is expected that you will maintain current knowledge of all applicable procedures, legislation and safety measures as well as provide technical advice and guidance to customers and stakeholders daily.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensuring the Radiological Instrumentation and Calibration processes are maintained to comply with company Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality standards
Carrying out the duties of qualified person (QP) in accordance with the requirements of the ionising radiation regulations 2017 (IRR17) and MOD JSP425 in the areas of responsibility defined in the QP letter of appointment
Maintaining high levels of housekeeping is maintained within the laboratories
Willing to co-operate and work within a team environment
Supporting the technical performance of measurement scientists.
Issuing of technical documentation for large instrumentation projects/service delivery
Aiding the development of less-experienced team members through formal and informal, technical and professional mentoring
Managing large instrumentation projects/service delivery by providing technical and financial input and contributing to design reviews. Also agree project deliverables with stakeholders
Delivering costed recommendations and schedules for large instrumentation projects/service delivery based on stakeholder requirements
Determining and prepare correct level of technical documentation for large projects
Designing, building and testing complex products and architectures which meet project deliverables
Seeking and identifying new instrumentation/equipment with the potential to improve company plant and processes
The Company may require you to fulfil any other reasonable duties aligned to your position from time to time in line with business needs
We would be interested in hearing from candidates who can demonstrate knowledge or experience in some of the following:
Nuclear physics, radiation detection and its applications
Working with analytical instrumentation, numeracy, handling large volumes of data, critical analysis and report writing
Ability to provide routine calibration, measurement and characterisation of radioactive reference standards and instruments, safe practices in a laboratory environment
Working to ISO 17025, MoD JSP425 and Def Stan 05-055
Able to readily adapt and respond quickly to changing situations and the changing needs of others Demonstrate ability to lead change by embracing new and different approaches
High degree of personal drive, good communication and interpersonal skills and a positive and co-operative attitude
Candidates must be willing to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
