Casual Residential Support Worker

Job description

Middlesbrough Council are seeking to appoint Casual Residential Support Workers, where you will have the opportunity to channel your skills and passions into a rewarding career.

We have a fabulous opportunity to work in our residential homes, and supported accommodation for children and young people aged between 8 and 18 years old. Who for a variety of reasons, cannot currently live with their families.

The successful candidates will be expected to be prepared to work in any Middlesbrough Children’s Homes or services as needed, or to work with children who are living in the community or within their own homes.

About you

Are you passionate, motivated have a restorative approach and excellent verbal and written skills? If so, we would like the hear from you.

You will be committed to providing a high quality of care and support, which meets the physical, emotional, intellectual, behavioural, health, social, and cultural needs of the children and families for whom the home provides a service. This will include working with children with challenging behaviour, complex emotional problems, mental health disorders and other additional needs.

Applicants must:

Have a recognised QCF level 3 diploma in Residential care in working with children and young people or an equivalent qualification, or a willingness to undertake.

An understanding of child development and challenging behaviour.

A positive attitude and the ability to work with children and young people in a trauma informed way.

Working Hours

You will be required to work unsocial hours, and this will be on a rota basis. Including weekends, bank holidays, and sleep ins and nights where applicable.
