Digital Communications Coordinator (Mat Cover)

Equity

Location

Central London | United Kingdom

Job description

About this Role

Equity is the UK trade union for professional performers and creative practitioners. Equity is respected as one of the most powerful entertainment unions in the world, and at the heart of the UK trade union movement. We are a growing union of around 50,000 members, proud of our strong organising and campaigning record. Our members are mostly freelance- with many working in greenfield and emerging areas in audio, videogames, dance and the light entertainment sectors. By contrast, most British TV, film and theatre are made on union agreements with minimum terms driving forward industry standards on everything from pay to dignity at work. The Union has a team of staff in offices across the UK who have a wealth of experience and expertise when it comes to advice and representation. They are able to deal with the issues raised by members working in all areas of the industry whether it be a major feature film, a theatre in education show, radio voice overs, a circus act or any other live or recorded work.
Equity is committed to equal opportunities and welcomes applications from all who believe they fit the essential requirements for the job.

The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for someone with the energy and commitment to take on a challenging and rewarding role in our Communications Team as a Digital Communications Coordinator to cover the current post holder's maternity leave.
The Digital Communications Coordinator supports the union’s communications work through the website, email newsletters and other digital services and content.
As part of the team you will be responsible editing web content. The post also leads on the management, maintenance and development of the Equity website. You will need very high proficiency in Umbraco or a similar website CMS, with experience in website management and content migration. Experience in website/CRM integration would be a bonus.
The role also involves producing email newsletters and other digital marketing communications, so experience with Action Network or other email marketing systems is essential. You will have experience in copywriting and the ability to produce engaging content for a range of audiences and will occasionally support other team colleagues with the production of print and other comms materials including writing articles for the Equity Journal.
You’ll be a talented communicator, and will be able to assist Equity staff, branches, committees and other activist networks in digital campaigning and communications initiatives.
We would like to encourage applications from a wide range of candidates, regardless of work experience to date. If you have an interest in the trade union movement and the technical skills to manage our website and digital communications, we want to hear from you!
The role requires a commitment to the role and work of trade unions, and Equity’s Vision, Mission and Values.
