Our client is looking for an Estimator to carry out work on retail fit outs, commercial units, sports, stadiums, restaurants & hotels in the Portsmouth area within the construction sector. This opportunity has great career progression as the company is growing quite considerable.
You must have a very high standard of customer service as you will be dealing with Clients, customers, suppliers & dealing with enquiries, tenders, monitoring live projects and cost liaising with the production team producing working estimates, & updating live projects. You must have the ability to work as a team, and use your experience and initiative to work on your own, you will be rewarded with a great package.
Main Responsibilities will include:
- Analyse architectural drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare labour, equipment, and materials/subcontractor estimates all work.
- Provide complete conceptual and final estimating input on work using knowledge of specialized methodologies, techniques, principles, or processes.
- Act as the Company’s representative at pre contract and post contract meetings with clients and main contractors.
- Populate the submitted estimates excel file.
- Maintain files (electronic data) of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers.
- Request quotations from suppliers and subcontractors. Conduct a thorough evaluation of incoming scopes of work and conduct a cost analysis on quotations.
- Conduct onsite surveys of pre-existing conditions when applicable.
- Perform post-bid analysis and participate in bid review meetings with company Directors.
- Initiate and chair new project hand-over meetings.
- When re-costing a project that has been priced previously speak to suppliers and subcontractors to get fresh costs and lead in periods in all cases.
- Carry out live project cost control and monitoring.
- Negotiate, award, and administer contracts with subcontractors for the successful completion of projects in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
