The Role: 
We are currently seeking a Catering Assistant (weekends) to join our team within the Council’s in-house catering service at Kearsney Cafe. We ideally are looking for candidates with barista and kitchen experience in a similar busy environment. This post is 14 hours a week, permanent position.
Set within the beautiful grounds of Kearsney Abbey, the café is a wonderful place for people come to enjoy the scenery whilst enjoying great food.

Who We Are Looking For:
The candidate will assist in delivering good quality food and drink in a busy Café environment situated in one of the district’s strategic parks. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to be part of a busy team which provides a year round service. They will be an integral part of driving the business forward as we expand into small private weddings and events.
This individual must thrive when working alongside others and must be comfortable when dealing with customers.

The Responsibilities:
- To assist in the effective and efficient running of the café.
- The successful candidate would ideally be someone who is enthusiastic, self-motivated, level-headed, honest and flexible.
- To be able to cook, prepare, clean, set up, replenish, and serve a variety of café type foods with the ability to flex the type of service depending on the time of year and the agreed service offer.
- You will therefore be required to have good communication skills and be able to liaise with the public in a polite and friendly manner.
- To assist with maintaining stock levels and reduce waste wherever possible.
- Record keeping, paper and electronic versions for inspection and audit purposes.
- To comply with the legal requirements relating to Health & Safety and understand and implement the Council’s policies.
- Previous experience would be preferable, but training could be provided for the right candidate.
- Due to the nature of the role and possible alcohol service we ask that all applicates be 18 years and over.
