The Life Cycle segment within Aker Solutions are specialists in managing, executing, and delivering small, medium, and large complex projects from feasibility studies, frame agreements and EPCI.
Life Cycle UK is now supporting a 3-year Frame Agreement that covers primarily Maintenance and Modification at Equinor’s offshore platforms Heidrun, Njord A and B, Asgard A and B, Troll A, B and C, Heimdal, and Johan Sverdrup in the North Sea Norwegian sector, as well as the onshore facility at Tjeldbergodden (Norway) and is looking for engineering and design discipline Project personnel to join us.
We are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team based in our Aberdeen (AIBP) office.
What will you be doing?
- To assist the Group Lead in meeting project requirements and performing all technical duties in a highly competent and efficient manner.
- Ensure project deliverables are generated using Aker Solutions systems and tools.
- Be involved in a wide variety of scopes ranging from smaller Front-End Studies to Minor/ Major Modification and Maintenance Projects, and other Specialist Services .
- Preparation of engineering and design documents and deliverables associated with typical brownfield EPC activities, such as safety improvements, production increase, asset life extensions, electrification, repurposing, low carbon solutions, etc .
- Preparation of structural analysis and design reports.
- Undertake structural global and local assessment using both computer and manual methods, including checking and detailing of connections (welded and bolted).
- Liaise with Client project and facilities engineers in the execution of the modifications project scopes of work.
- Liaise with other disciplines on design, construction, fabrication, and commissioning issues.
- Ensure that the work is performed in accordance with project execution model, delivered within agreed schedule, and to the approved budget.
- Ensure development of suitable, fit-for-purpose, workable engineering solutions with emphasis on safety, constructability, continuous improvement, and cost reduction.
- Review and comment on vendor information as requested by other disciplines.
- To ensure recognition of changes to scope of work and provision of support in preparation of Change Requests as appropriate.
- Carry out onshore or offshore site surveys, as required, during the initial workscope definition or the development of the design.
- Develop an understanding and ensure a good PEM knowledge of work processes and tools/ systems (e-learning training will be given) within the discipline.
We think you should have:
- A Civil/ Structural Engineering Degree or equivalent, with 5+ years of experience in offshore and onshore Oil and Gas/ Renewables energy sector.
- Track record in Structural Engineer role(s) from a minimum of one FEED, E&P or EPC project.
- Sound working knowledge of relevant structural design codes including AISC and API RP 2A, and knowledge of relevant Norwegian regulations and standards (NORSOK, Eurocodes, DNV).
- Extensive knowledge and experience in global and local structural analysis and integrity assessment for both existing and new offshore structures, and in-depth understanding of structural behavior.
- Ability to use computer analysis packages, such as STAAD.Pro with good working knowledge of liner analysis, member design to various codes, serviceability and deflection analysis, and basic plate assessment using non-liner methods.
- Working knowledge of non-linear software, such as Sesam/ GeniE is beneficial.
- Experience in design, detailing and specification of bolted and welded steelwork connections, ranging from simple frame connections to complex moment and preload connections and clamps.
- Basic knowledge of design software such as E3D, Navisworks and Autocad.
- Familiarity with all aspect of structural engineering deliverables, including preparation of analysis reports, rigging specification, installation and destruct methods, pipe supports, anomaly repairs, etc.
- Proven ability to design effective structural solutions with emphasis on fabrication and installation.
- Experience in topside modification and maintenance work for fixed and floating offshore assets is preferred but not essential.
- Knowledge of relevant Norwegian regulations and standards preferred.
- Preferably experience with Equinor Frame Agreements, projects, systems, and tools.
