About Our Client
Our client is a government-owned economic development bank who design, deliver and manage finance programmes to support smaller businesses, facilitating their development and contributing to the transition towards a net zero economy. The business act as an institutional investor in a range of venture and growth equity funds and small and mid-cap credit funds.
They operate over a couple of sites across the UK and are currently at approximately 550 employees.
They are seeking a talented In-house Counsel to assist their in-house function in Sheffield on equity investment programmes across the business on a hybrid basis.
Job Description
The successful In-house Counsel will be responsible for:
- Providing legal support to a number of product areas specialising in equity investments
- Facilitating the execution of investment transactions, from early engagement to completion
- Providing corporate advice in an in-house Financial Services context
- Managing external counsel and legal fees
- Supporting team on corporate governance
The Successful Applicant
The ideal candidate will be up to 8 years PQE and have:
- demonstrable experience advising in a range of M&A and corporate transaction, including drafting and reviewing agreements and documents.
- transaction management and negotiation skills.
- the ability to handle non-transactional legal work.
Experience working within the Financial Services sector and an understanding of regulated activities and FCA permissions would be beneficial.
We are also looking for someone who is a team player and comfortable working within a fast paced environment.
