Role

We are currently recruiting for a high-calibre Software Engineer, with experience working in an Avionics and embedded domain to join Thales Flight Avionics at what is an exciting time.

The successful applicant will be able to develop their software engineering skills whilst being given opportunities to lead on upcoming new projects. You will be given the opportunity to play a fundamental role in supporting the development and implementation of the next generation of Avionics products.

The key focus of this role will be primarily in the commercial fixed wing environment, specifying and implementing software for airborne satellite communication systems.

Whilst this role is based in Crawley, Thales operates on smart working and a large proportion of this role can be carried out remotely from across the UK.

This role would suit someone who does have prior Avionics development experience.

Whilst we do have a great training programme we are keen to hear from Software Engineers with experience of some of the below:

· Full software development lifecycle experience including Waterfall and Agile methodologies

· Requirement analysis, Design, Coding, Testing & Configuration management

· Development activities using C and C++

· Understanding of software Standards: RTCA - DO-178B-C, DO-330, DO-331, DO-332 guidelines for developing safety-critical software

· Experienced in Real-Time embedded systems & software in development and testing

· Use of configuration management and change management tools e.g. Jira, GIT, BitBucket

· Continuous integration tools, Jenkins, VectorCast, CUnit

· Real time Linux targets (including kernel/drivers)

· Experience of network protocol stacks, e.g. PPPoE

· Multi-core SoC devices, e.g. TI K2H, ARM, Cyclone V

· UML design experience, e.g. with Sparx EA

· DO-326 & DO-356 for airworthiness security

· Operating system hardening

 · Use of Static Application Security Testing (SAST) tools

· Secure application techniques e.g. access control, data at rest encryption, authentication mechanisms.

· DO-178C level D
