AWE is currently recruiting professional individuals with a thorough knowledge of ultrasonic testing used within non-destructive testing (NDT). NDT at AWE is a growing organisation and the company welcomes candidates from the aerospace, oil & gas, nuclear, rail and military sectors, ideally with an engineering background. The company is looking for individuals who hold Level 3 certification in ultrasonics (EN 4179/PCN/SNT/ASNT/NAS 410). If potential candidates consider themselves to be subject matter experts in the ultrasonics field but are missing the certification, then the company is interested in these applications too.

All training will be provided as well as career progression towards formal NDT qualification to advance the successful candidate’s career as an NDT professional. The ultrasonics inspections used by the company include pulse-echo, time-of- flight diffraction (TOFD) and phased array. If any of these areas is within the successful candidate’s skillset or within their ambition to learn, then applications are encouraged. The successful candidate’s work will be involved in some of the most cutting-edge technology and innovative projects.

This role will be hands-on in the testing of warhead products, to inspect, develop, innovate and validate future inspections and advise on capability that is fit for nuclear weapon inspection. The successful candidate will be working in a friendly team of similar professionals where personal growth is encouraged to truly develop world-class potential.

Duties:

  • Advise customers of the most suitable NDT techniques to inspect parts
  • Develop and implement ultrasonic techniques and work instructions
  • Carry out the necessary support functions to support the safe systems of work associated with NDT activities
  • Produce or support the team with the delivery of written technical assessments
  • Engage with the wider team, relevant AWE stakeholders and other functions to enhance inspection techniques
  • Work to company deadlines and targets
  • Continuous professional development to maintain formal NDT certification and to enhance current portfolio of NDT qualifications.

Salary:
