Job description
In this capacity, your primary responsibility will involve leading global tax activities for a rapidly expanding business operating in four countries with a market presence in over 50. The pivotal nature of your role lies in ensuring accurate and timely tax payments across all jurisdictions. This involves establishing appropriate advisory frameworks and risk management procedures, overseeing a team of two professionals, and engaging in a spectrum of tasks ranging from strategic tax planning to hands-on involvement in tax return submissions.
Key Responsibilities:
As a key member of the financial control team, you will report directly to the Finance Director while maintaining close collaboration with various departments and the Chief Financial Officer. Serving as a functional expert, your role extends to cross-functional collaboration, with a focus on the following responsibilities:
● Oversight of tax strategy and the approach to both in-house and external support.
● Serving as the primary point of contact for external advisors on various tax types, duties, and levies.
● Internal expertise on tax matters, collaborating cross-functionally on initiatives such as market entry and product launches.
● Continuous maintenance and improvement of our transfer pricing policy in alignment with evolving business dynamics.
● Establishment and enforcement of processes and policies ensuring global compliance with indirect taxes, including sales, packaging, and customs/excise taxes.
● Management of tax provisions, budgets, forecasts, and oversight of budgeted expenditures on professional advisors.
● Preparation of tax accounting entries for subsidiary accounts.
● Handling any tax investigations that may arise.
● Overseeing and implementing R&D claims and related processes.
● Acting as an agent for change, contributing to the enhancement of finance systems to automate and de-risk processes as the business matures.
Qualifications:
● A qualified tax professional - ACA/ACCA/CTA or equivalent.
● Preferably possesses industry experience, although not essential.
● Strong working experience with UK corporate or indirect taxes, ideally encompassing both.
● Some exposure to international tax is advantageous, particularly within our core markets (UK, USA, Germany, and wider EU).
● Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
● Excellent project management skills, capable of managing numerous competing priorities.
● A positive and proactive attitude with a passion for problem-solving and driving change. The ability to contribute to process improvement is essential, given the dynamic nature of our operations.
