We are looking for qualified property professionals to work across the Acquisitions and Development Teams supporting all aspects of our work including the acquisition of sites for new schools; providing general property advisory services and working with schools to help them manage their estates more efficiently.
In addition, there will be the opportunity to work on other initiatives, such as the decarbonisation of the school estate with the Net Zero Accelerator Programme.
The roles are home based in England, with regular travel to our office in Leicester Square. Applications are particularly welcome from people based in the South East and South West of England.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
* Working at pace, utilising market knowledge to support the identification, assessment and acquisition of good value sites for new schools
* Appraising the potential of existing and new sites for schools, including undertaking development appraisals and high-level planning appraisals
* Preparing reports to gain approval for the disposal of sites, acquisition of targeted sites, including assessing site suitability, managing technical and planning input, tenure, deal structure, legal implications etc
* Assist in the management of conditional contracts, from exchange to completion, assisting the DfE to comply with contractual obligations through the feasibility and planning stages
* Working with the senior team to agree development strategies, carry out planning pre-application work and in some cases, prepare planning applications, secure planning permission and procure development partners
* Considering a variety of creative options for alternative use of parts of school buildings or school sites to maximise value to schools, academies or multi-academy trusts to help them achieve their objectives
* Preparing investment committee reports (with appropriate senior oversight) seeking decisions, tracking progress and managing risks of projects
* Providing general estate management advice to schools, LAs and other responsible bodies
* Assisting with various projects and initiatives including delivering decarbonisation efficiencies across the education estate
* Assisting with graduates and apprentices working towards their APC assessment imparting lessons learnt, assisting in mock assessments and providing coaching where necessary.
KEY SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
* Qualified Chartered Surveyor, Chartered Town Planner or equivalent (MRICS/FRICS/MRTPI)
* Knowledge of relevant property markets, town planning laws and processes
* Understanding of how to identify and unlock value in sites
* Proven experience of land acquisitions, agency advice, disposals and undertaking development appraisals
* Excellent communication and presentation skills combined with strong attention to detail
* Ability to effectively manage relationships with a wide range of external clients, contacts and end users
* Strong time-management skills with ability to manage competing priorities.

* A basic salary of up to £64,000 depending on experience
