I have a AMAZING opportunity for a Senior Children's Support Worker to join a STUNNING children's residential service supporting young people between the ages of 8-18 who present a range of emotional, behavioural & complex interpersonal behavioural needs.

We are looking for a PASSIONATE, COMMITTED and MOTIVATED individual who wants to make a difference in the lives of young people; to enable them to develop socially, emotionally and behaviourally in a setting where they feel safe and cared for.

Salary: £33,146 - £36,386 (sleep allowance included)

Location: Abergavenny (NP7 postcode)

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week plus sleeps

Rota Pattern: 2 on 4 off shift pattern

As a Senior Children's Support Worker, you will:

• Lead by example and support the management team to run the shift
• Take greater responsibility for mentoring and supporting newer staff members
• Encourage young people to participate in activities and take responsibility for their own lives depending on their age.
• Keep the homely, friendly culture and environment of the homes.
• Deal with challenging behaviours when needed.
• Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
• Provide support for the children and young people in the home and promoting their independence and well-being.
• Maintain a safe environment for young people.
• Ensure safety of the students and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the individual's; care plan, guidelines, reward system and preferred method of communication.
• Support taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically.
• Develop and maintaining good working relationships with the staff, parents, Social Workers and other professionals involved in the young people's lives such as Psychologists.

Requirements:

• NVQ or QCF Level 3 in Children and Young People or equivalent is ESSENTIAL
• 2-year experience in a residential children's home environment is ESSENTIAL
• A Full Driving Licence is ESSENTIAL as you may be required to transport the children from time to time
• Ability to work the shift pattern (8am-10pm plus sleep ins)
