Job description
Currently recruiting a Financial Controller for our client, a manufacturing organisation based in St Neots. This is a new role, and the key purpose is to exercise financial control over all the company’s activities by providing accounting and control systems to safeguard, record and control the assets of the company and provide financial insight and direction in relation to all aspects of the business by full participation in the management of the business.
Create and maintain appropriate policies and processes to provide financial management of the business. Ensure the company complies with current accounting standards and direct and indirect taxation requirements. Maintain records to comply with banking covenant reporting requirements. Ensure that all income and expenditure are recorded in the accounts of the company. Maintain systems to control and authorise supplier invoices and expenses. Oversee all payments to suppliers and staff. Set credit limits for customers and monitor cash collection. Evaluate capital expenditure requirements and when required organise appropriate finance. Monitor cash flows and manage any difficulties. Foster a culture of no surprises.
In conjunction with colleagues set annual income and expenditure budgets. Determine recovery rates to monitor production efficiency and to set stock and WIP valuations. Produce monthly management accounts highlighting variances against budget. Monitor profitability and suggest ways to improve it. Produce annual financial accounts and manage the annual audit process.
Review all major contracts with suppliers and customers to protect the company’s interest. Assist the sales director in setting selling prices and in negotiations with customers. Maintain good working relations with external advisors/providers e.g. auditors, bank. Insurance providers.
You will be qualified CIMA/ACA/ACCA or equivalent. A background in manufacturing would be ideal and commercial and business awareness with an ability to participate in all business discussions.
