Position Information Lugarno Public School has an enrolment of 261 students (0.4% Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander; 26% English as an additional language or dialect and 48% non-English speaking background) and is located in the Georges River Network. The Itinerant Hearing team based at Lugarno Public School comprises 6.6 teaching positions. Each teacher has a caseload and works with students from Preschool to Year 12 across two school networks. Students are from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. The Itinerant Support Teacher Hearing develops and implements quality individualised programs for students on their case load. They liaise with and support mainstream teachers to develop inclusive education programs and enhance student learning outcomes.

Specific Selection Criteria 1. Approval to teach students with hearing impairment primary and secondary.

2. Comprehensive knowledge of the language development and communication needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

3. Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate quality, inclusive, evidence-based learning plans to meet the complex needs of students with hearing impairment from age of diagnosis to Year 12 across varied educational settings.

4. Knowledge and understand of current hearing assistive technology.

5. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with, and build capacity of, all stakeholders.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

The suitable applicant requires their own vehicle, a current driver's licence and willingness to travel between work sites including preschool, mainstream public school, high school, support classes and schools for specific purpose.
