Job Title : Technical Engineer
Reporting to : Lead Technical Engineer
Location : Tamworth
Salary : £40,000-45,000 + Great Benefits
The role of a Technical Engineer is a dynamic and challenging opportunity for a highly skilled problem-solver with a strong blend of business knowledge and technological expertise in gears and spline design principles . This position involves designing , developing , and implementing technical solutions based on business requirements, as well as identifying and proactively resolving potential issues . Prime Objective:
- Monitoring the progress of work through the Design Department and highlighting potential problems and backlogs
- Ensuring all technical data is fully supplied to ensure product manufacture can be realized.
- Assist in design and design for manufacture of all products to achieve Right First Time.
- Understanding spline and master gear design principals in accordance with national and international standards
General Responsibilities/Requirements:
- Creating manufacturing process layouts including CAD stage drawings and datasheets with consideration for tooling and fixtures .
- Creating and manipulating 3D CAD models .
- Taking ownership of in-house and customer issues. Researching , diagnosing , troubleshooting , identifyingsolutions and seeing them through to resolution .
- Assisting manufacturing personnel with all technical data to ensure effective manufacture of products (e.g. stage drawings, in-process and final datasheets etc.).
- Assisting manufacturing personnel with all technical queries to ensure effective manufacture of products.
- Developing preventative measures to prevent recurrence of problems .
- Assessing the impact of deviation on product quality .
- Liaising with customers to ensure we understand their requirements and have all relevant information.
- Liaising with the production facility and forming a collaborative relationship to ensure jobs are issued in accordance with their requirements and needs . Organizational
- To ensure the total quality of the department output , using, but not limited to laid down procedures.
- To supervise and co-ordinate the activities of the department. Measure and improve throughput.
- Application of continuous improvement techniques / projects
- To maintain and constantly improve the standards of housekeeping.
- Co-operation and liaison with all other departments, including possible secondment to work and/or supervise other areas.
- Supports Technical Directors and Lead Technical Engineer in the smooth and effective running of the Design Department
- Achievement of KPI targets for the department
Quality:
- Understands and fully complies with quality and business procedures.
- Awareness of operating procedures for Quality, Mietrak and Quality systems
Health, Safety & Environmental:
- Ensures Environmental Health & Safety policy is adhered to all times.
- Ensures correct manual handling procedures are adhered to.
- Carry out safety and housekeeping checks.
- To ensure all team members are equipped with Personal Protective Equipment and use it.
Key Measurables:
- Design throughput and lead time reduction
- Reduction in NCRs
- Route Card timing plan data accuracy
What we are looking for:
- Apprentice Trained CNC Machinist.
- Experience across Milling, Turning, Grinding and manual processes.
- Analytical, independent, and driven individual with experience in project based work.
- Experienced in Gears and spline design principles.
