Job Description:

We are looking for a Team Managerto join the First Response Service team based in Exeter. This post holder willjoin our current team manager due to the size and expansion of the service andtherefore will be part of a management team.

We are seeking to recruit anexperienced, visionary and motivated individual to join our mental health FirstResponse Service. The team promotes a dynamic and innovative way of working,triaging and responding to crisis referrals.

The post holder will cover the day time hours of theservice 0730hrs-2030hrs Monday to Friday with the other team manger to ensurethere is cover across the week. Thepattern of how this will work can be discussed.

The post holder will promoteclose working relationships and protocols with other internal and externalservices, encouraging their involvement in the planning and provision of carewhere indicated, through effective liaison roles between Trust services andexternal stakeholders. The post holder will ensure appropriate compliance withTrust policies in relation to people management activities, includingrecruitment, maximising attendance, supervisions and appraisals. They willmanage the performance of the team as measured by key performance indicatorsdefined nationally and locally. The post holder will undertake investigationsinto complaints from service users and carers, untoward incidents and staffingmatters, preparing reports to meetrequired deadlines.

Main duties of the job

Under the direction of theService Manager the post holder will be responsible for leading and managing amodern and efficient all age crisis response provision in accordance withcommissioned services. With the support from the Consultant Psychiatrist andClinical Practice Leads, leading and managing the delivery of high quality carewith positive outcomes for service users and carers is paramount to this role.The post holder will be expected to lead by example, motivating and empoweringothers whilst promoting positive attitudes in the context of collaborativeunderstanding regarding the care of others. The post holder will line manage staffensuring effective care delivery is maintained and continuous qualityimprovements are made.

The post holder will manage thebudget, authorising and controlling spending to ensure the best use ofresources within agreed policy and financial regulations. They will maintain anawareness of complex cases and projects, ensuring the service manager isappropriately informed regarding particular risks or concerns.

The post holder, with theClinical Practice Leads and Business Manager will manage the performance withinthe team in line with service requirements, ensuring consistent clinical andquality standards are maintained.

Job responsibilities

Job Purpose

The post holder will team manage the Single Point of Access and First Response Service providing 24 hour access to mental health services for people who identify, or have been identified as being in a mental health crisis. The service further manages planned external referrals which are clinically triaged and signposted accordingly. The post holder, supported by the Service Manager will be responsible for the effective operational management of the service including line management of staff, performance and financial management. They will use effective leadership, change management and team building skills to monitor, evaluate and develop the service provided.

There may be some clinical work included in this role to support the Clinical Practice Lead role.
