The Opportunity
The Package Engineer will work within the multidisciplinary Dangerous Goods & Spent Fuel Services Team that delivers EDF Energy’s Dual Mission: the safe defueling of our nuclear reactors, and supporting continued operations at our generating sites.
Your role will be to manage the design, use, modification and technical requirements of a broad suite of radioactive material packages including spent fuel flasks. You will work with internal and external stakeholders at our fleet of nuclear power stations, our suppliers and regulators to provide through life management of these packages. This role has a direct bearing on safety and company performance, and you will provide oversight of fleet processes with respect to transport packages.
Pay, benefits and culture
We can offer a competitive salary from £54,391 - £71,779 and you’ll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Nuclear Generation Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.

As a Package Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Who you are
You will hold a minimum of a HNC qualification in a relevant subject. A degree level qualification would be advantageous.
You must have experience working in a highly regulated industry and an awareness of the nuclear industry.
Skills and experience we’re looking for you to bring into this role include:
Knowledge and experience of EDF Energy AGR/PWR operations is desirable, as is familiarity with The Carriage of Dangerous Goods Regulations and the IAEA Regulations for the Safe Transport of Radioactive Material. Previous experience in radioactive material transport in a technical, scientific or commercial role would be advantageous.
