Job description
The National , the Middle East’s leading quality news organisation, is looking for a head of data visualisation. We are looking for somebody with a record of turning raw data into striking visual stories that explain complex subjects in a compelling, eye-catching way. Candidates should have an inquiring mind, a relish for researching data, the ability to visualise how the final graphics will look and the technical skills to make it happen. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build and lead a team of five other data visualisation specialists and infographic artists. You should have extensive experience in producing animated and interactive graphics as well as 2D information graphics. We are looking for somebody with a keen interest in Middle Eastern politics, culture and society and an eye for stories in the region that can be told through data. The job is based in Abu Dhabi. The National is a leading news source covering the Middle East, North Africa and beyond. Since our foundation in 2008, we have set a new standard for quality journalism in the region. Headquartered in Abu Dhabi with a team of 145 journalists, we boast bureaux in key locations including London, Washington DC, Beirut, Riyadh and Cairo, plus a network of correspondents elsewhere in the world.
