An excellent opportunity for a Financial Controller to join a well-established, exciting and growing Lithium-ion space business. The company designs, manufacturers and qualifies batteries for international space missions on satellites, launchers, and interplanetary vehicles. The company’s customers include both national and international space agencies like NASA and European Space Agency as well as working across the commercial market supporting missions that include Earth observation, internet of things satellite constellations and global positioning systems. The position is based in the Culham Science Centre near Abingdon in Oxfordshire and is a job that can truly impact people across the globe

Job Purpose

Oversee all financial aspects of the EnerSys ABSL business and be responsible for the flow of financial information to the EAS Financial Controller, Business Segment leads and Operations Director. Managing the day-to-day financial analysis, processing, and reporting activities of the business to ensure the company's financial activities are organised and efficient. Produce accurate and timely management accounts, project and cost accounting analysis and reports, supporting bid teams in winning business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Ensuring that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met regarding all the company’s financial affairs.

Maintenance of financial ledgers, management accounts and accounting processes.

Monthly preparation of P&L, Cash-flow, balance sheet and management accounts. Managing multi-currencies.

This business has numerous projects and revenue is recognised based on percentage of completion. Projects need to be tracked on a monthly basis both revenue and profitability.

Regular financial forecasting and analysis is required and from this information and guidance on cost control / improving profitability needs to be given to operations.

Ensuring that internal controls are implemented and maintained.

Preparation of audit documentation, full tax filing compliance and timely production of statutory and internal financial reports.

Preparation of monthly management accounts and annual US GAAP accounts.

Preparation of IFRS Annual Report and Accounts.

Preparation of annual tax return (in conjunction with EnerSys appointed tax accountants).

Production & ownership of the EnerSys ABSL annual budget and department and company levels.

Ensure group reporting is completed as required.

Production of monthly sales and trading forecasts

Preparation of VAT / Intrastat returns

Production of ESA PSS forms to support bid activity

Qualifications

A CIMA or FCCA qualified accountant preferred

Knowledge and Experience

Qualified accountant with preferably a minimum of 3-5 years post-qualification

Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS.

SME experience preferred.

Excellent communication skills.

Experience of ERP systems and outstanding Excel skills

Exposure to Currency Hedging & FX issues an advantage

Skills and Competencies
