Job description
Our client is a major design, engineering and project management consultancy who has been rapidly growing within various sectors and who is looking for multiple experienced professionals to join them on permanent basis. This role is for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor located in Cambridge.

Requirements
Reporting into a commercial property sector Regional Director and being a member of the regional commercial property team, you will be able to support senior grades by delivering commercial projects from inception to completion. You are expected to have:

Technical Understanding:
- Have an understanding of Cost X and or other measurement tools.
- Participating in relevant internal/external training initiatives.
- Applying the principles of quality assurance and environmental management.
- Able to support senior grades to manage the client relationship and service delivery.
- Growing and actively participating in a sector-focussed team.
- Expressly, an appropriate amount of high-quality experience required in the commercial office sector, having worked on many aspects of quantity surveying/cost management in this sector.
- Played an effective and efficient role in the preparation of feasibility and pre-contract estimates.
- Able to assist with providing effective and efficient transition of pre-contract through to post contract advice.
- Some Productive supervision of a support team, would be beneficial including adequate planning, monitoring and control.
- Happy to develop relationships with Project Teams in conjunction with senior grades.
- Have an understanding of project procurement options.
- Ability to work with some supervision and on own initiative.
- Ability to understand strategic matters, key cost drivers, project costs and added value.
- Knowledge and understanding of overall construction costs.
- Used to working to tight and ever-changing deadlines.
- Understanding of the London commercial office market would be considered advantageous.
Deliver:
- Quantity surveying and cost management duties.
- Provision of pre contract feasibility advice.
- To provide cost advice on commercial office led developments.
- Build project team relationships.
- Managing interfaces with design and construction teams.
- Guidance, care and mentoring of supporting staff, upskilling others.
- In conjunction with senior grades drive high levels of client satisfaction.
- In conjunction with senior grades delivery projects to satisfaction of their clients on programme within the agreed cost and quality parameters.
Attributes:
- Track record of working on commercial projects for or on behalf of local or national clients.
- Chartered with RICS, CIOB, ICE, RIBA or similar.
- Participate in marketing and thought leadership campaigns.
