Change Grow Live has an exciting new opportunity for a Community Engagement Worker to join our excellent Coventry service. The successful candidate must have working knowledge of a variety of social media platforms and experience in engaging with a range of people via social media. A keen eye for design and excellent written communication skills are a must, as well as a passion for supporting people. You will have excellent engagement skills, be committed to high quality service provision and the active involvement of service users.
With this role you’ll be working as part of a diverse team and service. The team supports people with their or their loved ones’ drug and/or alcohol issues. No two days are the same and we treat every person who comes into our service as an individual, so being flexible, curious and a good listener are key.
Where: Coventry
Hours: 37.5h per week
Salary: 27,449.53 - £31,529.41 (CGL Scale 23-28) Depending on experience, Pro Rata
About the role:
The ideal candidate should have experience delivering training and awareness sessions to various partners in Coventry. They should have a good understanding of different learning styles and the ability to adapt training to suit different learners. Furthermore, the candidate should have extensive knowledge of the issues faced by substance and alcohol misusers, as well as a comprehensive understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.
To promote the service, the candidate should have experience working with different stakeholders and the wider public and should have a background in developing marketing and communication plans using a range of media channels, including print, social media, online, and peer-led, with service branding.
- To be creative and innovative to best meet the needs of local people, promoting access into service, and continued engagement within underrepresented communities.
- Increase the number of people accessing treatment by actively finding the people who need support, initiating contact and building trust and rapport.
- Work with lived experience recovery services to support building relationships and develop the coordination of care aligned to the drug strategy
- Provide screening, triage, assessment and brief advice to people who are worried about their alcohol and/or drug use.
- Facilitate access to specialist drug/alcohol treatment where required.
- Deliver information sessions within communities with a particular focus on myth busting and breaking down stigma.
- As required deliver training on alcohol and drugs to local community providers.
- To write creative and engaging content for a wide range of purposes, including web, internal communications, advertising, editorial, PR and printed material.
- Implement the Marketing and Communication plans to increase profile and reduce stigma by humanising the people accessing our support and by engaging/giving back to local communities.
- To post regular content on social media, researching content ideas as required. Update social media and support health campaigns/promotions/events.
About you:
- Experience of working with substance misuse issues and a clear understanding of the need for and ability to deliver quality services.
- Experience of marketing and communications.
- Excellent working knowledge of major social media channels including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, and experience in engaging with a range of people via social media.
- A clear understanding of issues relating to underrepresented groups in drug services and their engagement with Services
- Understanding of Outreach practices and working within a community delivery model
- Qualification in substance misuse and / or relevant experience
- Knowledge of the issues facing substance mis-users including appropriate medical interventions, social care and health issues.
- Motivational interviewing techniques.
- Knowledge or experience of CBT, Relapse Prevention or Brief Solution Focussed Therapy
- Excellent communication, presentation and public speaking skills
