Your new role
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing the financial aspects of commercial, healthcare, and education construction projects. You will be responsible for estimating costs, preparing tender documents, and monitoring project budgets. This role requires a strong commercial background, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with project teams, subcontractors, and clients. This is a permanent position that offers stability, career progression, and the opportunity to work with a dynamic and ambitious team.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate cost estimates and budgets for commercial, healthcare, and education construction projects.
- Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to obtain competitive prices and ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Assess and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations, negotiating the best terms and prices.
- Prepare and submit tender documents, including bills of quantities and specifications.
- Monitor project costs and budgets, providing regular reports and updates to project teams and clients.
- Analyse project variations and prepare valuations, ensuring accurate cost control.
- Conduct cost analysis and benchmarking to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Prepare and negotiate final accounts, resolving any contractual disputes.
- Collaborate with project teams to identify and manage risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends, changes in legislation, and emerging best practices in quantity surveying.
What you'll need to succeed
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field is essential.
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in commercial construction projects is required.
- Experience in healthcare and education builds and refurbishments is highly desirable.
- Excellent knowledge of quantity surveying practices, procedures, and techniques.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data.
- Proficiency in using quantity surveying software and tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of relevant construction contracts and their application.
- Full UK driving licence.
