08.00-16.30 Monday to Thursday (30mns lunch break)
08.00-13.00 Friday (no lunch break)
Roxel is an Anglo-French company that designs, develops and manufactures solid propellant rocket motors for use in tactical missiles. Its operations are spread across several sites in the UK and France and it has an annual turnover over £100M and nearly 700 staff, over 250 in the UK.
The UK operations are entirely based at Summerfield, Kidderminster, where we have a vacancy for a Configuration Control Engineer.
Configuration control is a key requirement within the business in order to manage change and ensure compliance to the required standards. The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong attention to detail and will understand the responsibility for management of a configuration control system.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for configuration control across all rocket motor products and the management of change of the Engineering and Manufacturing bill of materials (EBOMs / MBOMs) and process routings. The project Production Engineer is responsible for defining the production processes and links with this role to support creation and maintenance of the MBOMs. In summary, the role will involve the following responsibilities:
- Create, maintain and configure the MBOM process in an ERP system.
- To ensure that all documents and design changes are reflected in the relevant bill of materials and process routings.
- Creation and upkeep of project manufacturing process flow maps. under the guidance of the project Production Engineer.
- Generate and maintain tooling registers/family trees that link with the manufacturing flow plans.
- Support and follow the Engineering change control process and attend local configuration control panel and embodiment plan meetings.
- Control of items and item masters on the MRP system.
- Perform regular desk top audits to achieve robustness and accuracy of all MBOMs and processes.
- Liaise with Configuration Control on material changes due to obsolescence or improvements, modifications and amendments to all documents including drawings/item lists, manufacturing methods and specifications.
- Co-ordinate with the planning department regularly to ensure information is communicated and released to production in an effective way.
EXPERIENCE AND BACKGROUND
Qualification & Experience
- Educated to HNC level or higher in an engineering related discipline or equivalent work experience is considered beneficial General IT and Microsoft office package proficiency (Word, Excel and Access) is essential.
Experience
- Knowledge of interpreting engineering drawings and item lists would be beneficial.
- Experience with defence standards relating to configuration control would be beneficial.
- Experience using an ERP system.
