Calling all compassionate and dedicated individuals! Mencap is seeking passionate Relief Support Workers to join our incredible team in Ilford.
As a Relief Support Worker, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs.
From assisting with daily activities to providing emotional support, you’ll play a vital role in their life.
About the Service
The people you will be supporting love a variety of activities including music, watching television, dancing, shopping, baking, involving in meal preparation, art and craft, painting, gardening, socialising, going on day trips, cinema, being part of their community and can at times have a hectic schedule. All the above play a significant part in their life.
As well as the team that support them, family members are very involved. Being social and having conversations about things that are of interest and daily life is something they truly value. However, sometimes crowded, or noisy environments are not fun, and that is something that some of the people we support find difficult to manage.
Indoor activities include music sessions, one to one interactive sessions, art and craft, painting, involvement in meal preparation and laundry, life skills and television. We support a variety of people from different cultures so it would be helpful to have some cooking skills and ideas in this area.
What we're looking for:
- A genuine passion for supporting others.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.
Contract options:
- Relief - flexible hours based on availability
Shift times:
All our services are 24hr care.
- Days: Between 07:00-10:00 AND
- Sleep-ins: 10:00-07:00
