Job overview

Lancashire & South Cumbria Foundation Trust recognise and value the importance volunteer support is to us and our patients. We currently have a volunteer role available supporting us at Balladen House in Rawtenstall. You must be 18 years and over to apply for this role. As volunteer expenses are limited to a 20 mile round trip, we are unable to proceed with applications if you live to far from the location you are volunteering for. 

Main duties of the job

Volunteering on award involves a long term commitment (for example 9 – 12 months), and to bring continuity and stability for patients and staff, we ask volunteer to support by doing the same periods each week, which are discussed and agreed by the volunteer and volunteer supervisor.

Telephone Befrienders can provide valuable support to some of our service users who are feeling lonely and isolated, which helps speed up their recovery time. Regular contact with the same person helps alleviate loneliness and build relationships.

Working for our organisation

Volunteers will be provided with a number of clients, all of whom have given consent to take part in this programme, who they would contact as part of this service, along with additional information to help break the ice and build trust. The number of contacts would be determined by the Team leader, based on a number of factors, including time commitment.

A Standard DBS is required for this role – there is no cost to a volunteer for a DBS application.
