Job description
Due to an internal promotion an exciting new role has opened up at our Aylesford depot for a Motor Vehicle Foreman overseeing a team of motor vehicle technicians and assisting the depot manager.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Responsible for team of vehicle technicians on a dedicated onsite vehicle maintenance unit in Aylesford, Kent.
Responsible for technicians of varied abilities focusing on engineering excellence, providing training needs analysis and assist in a structured training plan with the long term vision of increasing productivity and profitability.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
To assist the depot manager in ensuring the day to day operations of the workshop are carried out to the highest standards. Ensure the customer is always updated and supported with a professional and pragmatic manner. Support the team to ensure productive & cost-effective high standards of workmanship. Support the depot manager by stepping into their role in times of cover.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Act as the frontline first point of contact for technicians within the workshop offering advice and expertise to aid fault finding and diagnosis, while ensuring adherence to all Health and Safety legislation.
- Supervise and coordinate the workshop team, including Performance Management, PPE requirements, and carryout the day to day mentor and training of the less qualified technicians.
- Responsible for performance monitoring of team, including objective setting, annual appraisal cycle, productivity, capability.
- To be of smart & professional appearance especially when customer facing and handle and report on any customer issues in a timely manner.
- Check that all work carried out within the team is to a constant high standard & delivered in a Timely manner
- Ensure adequate workshop technician cover in place for daily tasks.
- Ensure all administrative work is constantly to the highest standard and processed by onsite admin operative and technicians.
- To ensure all defects and services are completed accurately on electronic system fully utilizing all existing & new technology. Sign off and spot check works carried out by technicians.
- Cultivate and demonstrate a solid team ethos.
- Generates optimum productivity from the team
- Assist management at all levels to maximize team efficiency.
- Provide support & guidance for all team members
- Report to the management team at regular intervals to provide accurate feedback
- Work alongside other depots and departments in the overall business to support company growth.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential:
- GSCE level education or equivalent.
- Demonstrable experience working on vehicles repairs of multi formats.
- Demonstrable experience inspecting vehicles to UK MOT Legislative standards.
- Holds a full UK driving license (essential)
Desirable:
- City & Guilds qualifications
- Irtec Accreditation
- Electrical qualifications/certification
- Mechanical/Engineering certification
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
Essential:
- A minimum of 3 years relevant experience within vehicle service and repair.
- Computer literate to an adequate standard
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Basic Mathematics & English
- To work on own initiative/unsupervised
- The ability to coach and identify training needs
Desirable:
- Demonstrable experience of supervising a team of technicians.
- Track record of interacting and communication with customers at all levels
