It is a really exciting time to be joining our Port Health Team as we transform our services in response to the UK’s departure from the European Union. We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the East Suffolk Council's Port Health Team as a Technical Specialist.

Your role
You will be one of our subject matter experts in relation to legislation relevant to the Port Health authority. Your responsibilities will include providing legislative advice, completing technical audits, designing policies and procedures, training and ensuring the Port Health Authority is looking for ways to continuously improve in addition to legislative requirements.
* A Shift Allowance equivalent to 7% of your base salary will be paid to recognise that you work over the range of the opening hours of the Port Health facility (currently 0700-1900 hours).
Although this post is a career banded 7 – 9 role, the successful candidates will be appointed at Band 9 between SCP 38/42.
What you will need
You will have extensive technical and legislative knowledge and understanding of the Port Health legislative framework. Ideally you would have significant experience of import controls on Products of Animal Origin (POAO). You will also have substantial experience working in a technical port health role, as well as a degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in Environmental Health or Veterinary Science.
