Job Opportunity: SEN Teaching Assistant at Ofsted Good Secondary School in Stockport

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted Good secondary school in Stockport. This full-time position offers stability from after Easter until the end of the academic year, with the potential for permanent placement based on exceptional performance.

Role Overview: As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support to students with a range of Special Educational Needs, enabling them to access the curriculum and reach their full potential. Your responsibilities will includeIndividualized Support: Offering one-to-one or small group support to students with SEN, implementing strategies and interventions to address their specific learning needs and facilitate their academic progress.

• Differentiated Instruction: Collaborating with teachers to adapt teaching materials and activities to accommodate the diverse learning styles and abilities of students with SEN, ensuring they are fully included in classroom learning.
• Behaviour Management: Implementing positive behaviour management strategies to support students with SEN in managing their emotions, developing social skills, and maintaining focus and engagement in learning activities.
• Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Supporting teachers in assessing student progress and development, collecting data, and providing feedback to inform individualized support plans and interventions.
• Communication and Collaboration: Maintaining open and effective communication with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals involved in supporting students with SEN, ensuring a coordinated approach to meeting their needs.

Requirements:

• Previous experience working with students with SEN is desirable but not essential.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
• Empathy, patience, and a nurturing approach to supporting students with diverse learning needs.
• Resilience and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
• Willingness to undergo relevant training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in supporting students with SEN.
